One day, Tiffany Rowe’s attention was captivated by an unusual cameo brooch. Her friend wearing the brooch explained that the jewel was a heritage from her grandmother. Spellbound by the beauty of the object, which was beautifully crafted in gold and ivory, Tiffany decided to create a contemporary rendering of the heirloom. Using techniques similar to those used in dentistry, Tiffany set about moulding the brooch that her friend had kindly lent her. Using resin and metal leaf, each cast is carefully carried out by hand. Far from an identical series such as produced by a machine, Tiffany noticed that each new object was slightly different and thus reflected the beauty of not one, but of many women. This process of moulding vintage jewellery has thus become a questioning about heritage, transfer and transmission during the lifetime of a woman. The artist thus pays homage to four ladies and four generations: a friend, a grandmother, the mysterious figure portrayed in the cameo and finally Tiffany herself.

Un jour, Tiffany Rowe fut frappée par une broche que portait une amie. Celle-ci lui expliqua que le camée lui venait de sa grand-mère qui le portait pour sublimer un décolleté généreux. Fascinée par la beauté de cet objet en or et ivoire, la bijoutière voulut l’interpréter en version contemporaine. Acte de folie ou de pure confiance, l’amie lui prêta le bijou de famille. Un premier moulage haute définition fut ainsi réalisé. Surprise ! Chaque tirage en résine a une apparence légèrement différente, comme si tous les traits des femmes du monde y apparaissaient au fil des moulages artisanaux. Son âme de biologiste, sa formation initiale, fut touché et Tiffany Rowe s’interrogea sur le processus de transmission. Qu’est ce que la transmission ? Qu’est ce qu’une femme transmet au cours de sa vie ? Une passion, une culture, un savoir faire, un objet ? En réalisant ce projet, Tiffany rend hommage à la rencontre de quatre femmes et de quatre générations: une amie bientôt à la retraite, une grand-mère, la mystérieuse femme se détachant sur le camée et Tiffany elle-même.
